ISI mark made mandatory for tyres in India
Government of India has made it mandatory for tyres to bear ISI mark over them, with effect from May 9, 2011. The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion has said that companies which import tyres cannot do business in India in the form of selling the tyres. Selling such tyres will be a crime and the company is bound to get fined for the same. The order is expected to increase the quality of tyres and reduce the number of accidents caused by defective tyres.
